EVENTS:

CONFIRMATION CLASS Parents & Confirmands Orientation meeting Sunday, Sept. 14th at 5 pm to discuss the upcoming year of Confirmation Instruction. This is required for all Confirmation students. At least one parent needs to attend with their child.

SUNDAY SCHOOL is being held at a new time - during the 10:45 service. All children ages Preschool to 5th grade are welcome to attend. Jr. & Sr. High Bible classes will still be offered at 9:30 am in the office area.

Please continue to pick up items for the Lutheran World Relief health and school kits and bring to the church (place in the box on the counter in the lobby) or office. Lists of items needed for the kits can be found under the Lutheran World Relief tab on the left of this page. Bring donations BY SEPTEMBER 14TH so items needed to complete kits can be purchased. Thanks for your help!

OPEN CURSILLO GATHERING, Sunday, September 14 at Red Hill Lutheran Church in Tustin starting at 2 pm. If you are interested in going, contact Marge Clark or Larry Alexander for more information. The next set of Cursillo weekends are Oct. 16-25 for men and Oct. 23-26 for women.

TURNING SHEPHERD OF THE VALLEY - ‘INSIDE-OUT’ WORKSHOP - Saturday, September 20th, being offered to all members to teach ways in sharing the faith and inviting people to church will begin at 8:30am in the hall. Sign up on the clipboard in the lobby if you plan to attend so we know which coffee pot to set up!

SPECIAL AWANA MEETING   All members of Shepherd and especially those who have participated in the Awana Program are invited to a special meeting on Wednesday, September 17th at 6:30pm in the hall. This is a parents and volunteers meeting, not an Awana program session for the children. We need everyone’s input and participation!

THE LIFE OF CHRIST - Please join us for a comprehensive study of the four Gospels of the New Testament - The Life of Jesus Christ. The first “Introductory” class is set for Thursday evening, September 18th at 7pm in the Hall. Please sign up on the clipboard on the counter in the church lobby. If there is sufficient interest, a morning class might possibly be offered.

NEW MEMBERS’ INFORMATIONAL CLASS will be held on the 2nd & 4th Sundays of the month in the Office Conference room. 9/14 at 9:30am - Basics of the Lutheran faith; 9/28 - More about the Lutheran Church; 10/12 - Shepherd of the Valley... background, programs, opportunities...  On 10/26 (10/26; 11/9 and 11/23) we’ll repeat the same cycle of classes. Classes will not be offered in December, but will be repeated in January thru March of 2015.

    The 2014 Lutheran Social Services Walk to End Poverty will be Saturday, October 4th starting at 8 am at Hope Lutheran Church on Arlington in Riverside and ending at Eden Lutheran on Brockton. Please mark your attendance card or contact the SVLC office if you are walking so we can publicize this information.
